Just in time for Christmas

Here we are in the midst of another Holiday Season and despite the ill tidings we hear from the Fed every day, Americans are muddling through. I have been busy these last few weeks, out on the road trying to bring in as much cash as I can, while I can. It was good to see that another Liberty Forum friend stopped by. For those that don't know, Liberty Forum was the best of the forums out there by far and was unceremoniously shut down with no explanation given. But the lesson is there for those who can see it; Free Speech is on its way out. Like it or not. Even these blogs that we enjoy so much and express our inner most thoughts on will go by the wayside sooner than we would like.
While I've been out on the road I've been keeping track of all the latest developments on the World and National stage and have given a lot of thoughts to what it means to the American people. I'll try to address them but not necessarily in order of importance.
Mumbai Attacks
Much has been speculated about these attacks ranging anywhere from the perpetrators being Al Qaeda to the Mossad to an internal force of Indians doing it to themselves. What I have found when examining these kinds of incidents is that in each story there is a kernal of truth. The attacks in and of themselves made absolutely no sense in that there was no stated goal, no stated reason for the attacks on innocent civilians and the general Indian public at large. That there were wide spread reports of Westerners being sought and killed is also in doubt. The biggest stories here in the US was of Jewish victims. Consider the duality of the stories being put out. On the one hand we are told that Westerners were being targeted. This puts fear into your average everyday American primarily and all other Europeans to a lesser degree. Then you have the outrage of Jews being killed. This serves two purposes. One; it conjours up images of all the suffering that the Jews have endured and two; it subtly hints that Jews fill in nicely for Westerners when need be. Even though their mindset is not traditionallly considered to be a Westerner way of thinking.
When one considers that there is some belief that Al Qaeda is a CIA front, coupled with the media's portrayal of the more important victims it seems clear to me that this incident was a trial run for a similar attack upon an American city at some point in the near future.
This is of course highly speculative on my part but this seems to be how things work. There is always a trial run usually in some place that is just remote enough to where the spin can be highly manipulated and to where the tactics for the next attack can be refined for maximum effect.
The government must know something is in the wind because for the first time a combat brigade will be brought home to assist in domestic emergencies. Oh sure, the story is that they will be helping with disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires, etc. Every benign reason is given but the truth. And that is for domestic unrest. But even when that aspect is given I have to ask myself, "What domestic unrest?!" Even with all of the alleged turmoil going on I am not seeing any groups that are all that upset over the current state of the economy. To be sure, people are worried but I hear of absolutely no one that is so pissed off that the government should worry. So why the troops? Why the troops? WHY, why, why???
Not hearing any answers I must speculate because nothing happens for no reason. Is the government merely bringing home the troops because the War in Iraq is winding down and this is a make-work solution? I don't think so since Obama has stated his desire to escalate the war in Afghanistan. Shouldn't the extra troops be headed for Afghanistan? I guess not. Perhaps the government has finally awakened to the fact that we are being overrun with illegal aliens and they are going to be used to protect our borders? Again, no. If the government didn't immediately close the border after the so called attacks of 9-11 why do it now? Makes no sense. Are they afraid to discharge these excess troops because the economy is so bad that these soldiers would automatically go on the welfare rolls? I kind of doubt that too. The military has been downsized before and the last few years has seen a developing love affair between the Federal government and the military where there wasn't one before. Remember Clinton's "Loathing" of the military? Now the government likes the military so much they want to keep them closer to home. Hmmmm. This does not seem like a good thing for the people of the U.S. The only thing that makes sense is that at some point in the future, there will be some kind of an attack on the Homeland of the U.S. It may be portrayed as an attack from Al Qaeda, which will be portrayed as an 'external' attack. Or the attack will be portrayed as coming from one of the big bad disgruntled investor militia's that just couldn't stand seeing their stocks go down anymore. But make no mistake the troops are here for a reason. Let's hope they remember that they are our sons and daughters and that the training they received in Iraq can be over ridden.

More thoughts soon. Got to go shopping.
